3-D Shape Recovery Using A Deformable Model
نویسندگان
چکیده
The paper describes a method for recovering the 3-D shape of a moving object from a sequence of images. While following the motion of the object, a 3-D surface model, initialised to be spherical, progressively deforms itself under the action of simulated external forces applied to the model to drive its profile towards the object profile extracted from the image. An internal energy coupled to the model encourages a smooth and uniform deformation. The model is also constrained to be symmetrical about an plane parallel to the direction of motion. Poses for the model to correctly align with the object in 3-D are computed by using the motion trajectory of the object in the image plane and a non-linear least squares method. Experimental results are presented for recovery of shape models of vehicles. The resulting model represents the 3-D object shape, and may be used for several purposes including object recognition, tracking and visualisation.

Integrating Qualitative and Quantitative Object Representations in the Recovery and Tracking of 3-D Shape
Data-driven models such as active contours in 2-D and deformable surfaces in 3-D have become prevalent in the computer vision community, particularly in the areas of shape tracking and shape recovery. They provide an important alternative to typical model-based recognition and tracking approaches that assume knowledge of the exact geometry of the object. Despite the power of these approaches, d...

متن کاملGeneric 3-D Shape Model: Acquisitions and Applications
The paper describes a method for generating a generic deformable model from a training set of shapes depicted in a corpus of image sequences. Individual shapes in the training set are extracted automatically from the image sequences and represented by the control points of a B-spline surface. The generic model is derived by principal component analysis on the aligned training shapes. Using the ...
متن کاملUsing Aspect Graphs to Control the Recovery and Tracking of Deformable Models
Active or deformable models have emerged as a popular modeling paradigm in computer vision. These models have the exibility to adapt themselves to the image data, ooering the potential for both generic object recognition and non-rigid object tracking. Because these active models are underconstrained, however, deformable shape recovery often requires manual segmentation or good model initializat...
